Harold Nicholson – Home at Last

Harold and Dorothy Nicholson
April 30, 2012.  Today, God has called home a humble servant, a gentle giant, a selfless volunteer and a good friend to many.  Harold Nicholson has gone to his reward in Heaven, and surely, the angels are rejoicing!  Those very special words – “Well done, thou good and faithful servant!” – are so richly deserved and so appropriate for Harold.  His service to the camp, to Maritime Christian College, to Sherwood Church of Christ and to anyone who needed a hand, left such an indelible mark that he will never be forgotten. Harold was a tremendous example of humility.  We who knew him will all have our stories of how he touched our lives, or how we learned from him, or of his great strength – both physical and spiritual – and we shall smile as we tell them.  We will shed a tear for our great loss, and speak proudly of Heaven’s great gain, now that our dear friend is there.  We shall offer prayers for God’s comforting hand to rest softly on his family’s shoulders and give them strength. And so, we must carry on.  We shall call upon our Lord Jesus to help us through this time of loss, and to give us the courage to stand up and try, as valiantly as we can, to take up where Harold left off.  No one can replace Harold, but we can all work together to do as he did, in service to God.  In teaching us to serve, Harold Nicholson has done his part to fulfill the Great Commission: “Go and make disciples…”
